SAINT JOHN – A man from Saint John has been sentenced to three years in prison for possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.

34-year-old Clifford Hughes pleaded guilty in Saint John Provincial Court Friday to the charges. Hughes will also be not allowed to own firearms for 10 years.

RCMP say several search and arrest warrants were obtained through Operation J-Tornado.

The joint investigation force was created to disrupt illegal drug trade in New Brunswick.

As a result of the operation, 28 people have been charged with drug-related offenses.
