A Halifax youth has been arrested following a stabbing Tuesday night.

Police say the incident happened on Barrington Street, just before 7 p.m.

When they arrived at the scene, the suspect had already fled on foot.

Officers say a 38-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was later found, and arrested.

Police say the man and the youth are known to one another, and were involved in an altercation before the alleged stabbing occurred.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Wednesday afternoon on one count of attempted murder and two counts of breaching probation.
