A 22-year-old Lake Echo, N.S. man has been charged with stunting for allegedly driving more than 70 kilometres over the speed limit on a Nova Scotia highway.

The RCMP stopped the man near exit 21 on Highway 107 in Porters Lake, N.S. around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

They allege he was travelling 173 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Police say a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were also in the car.

The man was slapped with a $2,422 fine and his vehicle was seized. His licence has also been suspended for a minimum of seven days.

Stunting occurs when a driver is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.
