A 57-year-old man is due in court after an alleged altercation in Halifax sent one man to hospital on the weekend.

The incident happened at a home on Seascape lane around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police say several people were at the home when a fight broke out and one man was assaulted with a knife.

The suspect fled the area and the alleged victim, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested and remanded to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility.

He is due in Halifax provincial court Monday to face charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police say the incident wasn’t a random act as the suspect and alleged victim are known to each other.
