A woman is facing charges, including attempted murder, after a man was stabbed in Dartmouth Sunday evening.

Police responded to a residence on Farrell Street before 8:30 p.m. Officers found a 41-year-old man suffering from a stab wound and a 28-year-old woman was arrested at the scene.

Police also recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.

Police say the woman was held in custody overnight. She is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Monday to face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of previously-imposed court conditions.

Police say the stabbing isn’t a random incident as the suspect and victim are known to one another.
