Suspicious package that shut down Halifax street a cooler bag: police

Halifax Regional Police say a suspicious package on Brunswick Street turned out to be a “cooler style bag.”

Police responded to a report of a suspicious package in the 1700 block of Brunswick Street, near the Scotiabank Centre, shortly after 11 a.m. Monday.

The explosive disposal unit also attended the scene.

Police say there was nothing inside the bag and they have determined there was no threat.

A section of Brunswick Street, between Duke and Sackville streets, was shut down to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while police investigated.

The street has since reopened to all traffic.
