The RCMP say a threat that prompted the evacuation of a school in the Halifax area Monday morning was unfounded.

Police received a call in the form of a computerized voice message about a bomb threat at Cole Harbour District High School at 7:16 a.m.

Students and staff were evacuated from the school and relocated to Cole Harbour Place while members of the Halifax District RCMP, Halifax Regional Police, and a K9 unit trained in the detection of explosives searched the area.

Police concluded their search two hours later, saying nothing was suspicious was found, and the threat was found not to be credible.

Students and staff returned to the school around 9:30 a.m. and classes resumed.

The incident remains under investigation.

The call came a day after police responded to five separate bomb threats in the Halifax area, and five days after bomb threats prompted the closure of all schools in Prince Edward Island and all Nova Scotia Community College campuses.

Nothing suspicious was found at any of the schools last week, or at any of the areas reported Sunday.
