Three people are facing charges after police conducted several drug searches in the Halifax area Tuesday.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Lacewood Drive around 6 p.m.

Police seized a small quantity of marijuana from the vehicle and arrested the two male occupants at the scene.

Subsequent searches followed at homes on Walter Havill Drive in Halifax, Crozier Court in Bedford and Taranaki Drive in Cole Harbour.

Police seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana, 50 plants, and grow equipment as a result of the searches.

Two men and a woman are facing charges in connection with the seizures.

Quoc Nguyen, 49, of Bedford was held overnight. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of drug possession and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

John Michael Church, 30, of Cole Harbour was held overnight and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of cultivation of cannabis and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 30-year-old Cole Harbour woman, who has not been named, has also been charged with cultivation of cannabis.

She was released and will appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Jan. 23.

Police say the investigation is continuing and they expect more charges will be laid.
