Halifax Regional Police say two men and one woman were swarmed by 10 to 15 black youths early Sunday morning near the Halifax Oval.

Police say the incident happened on Cogswell Street around 1:10 a.m.

In a news release, police say a black woman with dreadlocks punched the female victim, knocking her to the ground and taking her wallet.

One of the male victims was also knocked to the ground, then started punching and kicking back.

The second male victim began fighting back against the group, who then ran from the scene toward North Park Street.

Paramedics treated the three victims at the scene and they were released.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
