Three Maritimers have been appointed to the Order of Canada.

They’re among the 95 appointees announced on Saturday.

The first is Catherine Frazee from Canning, N.S. for her advancement of the rights of persons with disabilities and as an advocate for social justice.

Dr. Thomas Marrie from Marriots Cove, N.S. was appointed for his contributions as an expert in infectious diseases and as a medical educator. He serves as Dean of Medicine for both Dalhousie University and the University of Alberta.

Finally, Patrick Darrah from Saint John, N.B. was appointed for his contribution to the construction industry and for volunteering with educational, health care and athletic initiatives in his province.

They will be invited to accept their insignia at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
