HALIFAX -- Two more people have been charged in connection with the death of a Halifax woman whose body has not been found.

Police said Thursday that Kelly Amanda MacDonald, 33, of Lawrencetown, N.S., is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Catherine (Catie) Miller. George Edward Hubley, 30, of Sheet Harbour, N.S., is charged with accessory to murder after the fact.

Both are also charged with indecently interfering with a dead human body.

Another man, Jason James Johnson, 29, was charged earlier this week with first-degree murder and indecently interfering with a dead human body. Police have said the second charge refers to altering or affecting the integrity of a body.

Miller, a 29-year-old mother of one, was last in contact with her family on July 15 and reported missing several days later.

Police said it is not yet known whether human remains discovered Wednesday at one of four search sites in Nova Scotia belong to the victim, adding they expect the identification process to take some time.

"The location of the remains will not be released at this time to protect the ongoing investigation," police said in a news release.

"We cannot begin to imagine how difficult this week's developments, coupled with all the information in the media, must be for Catie Miller's family and friends."

Police said searches for potential evidence were continuing at undisclosed sites in Lawrencetown, Goffs and Sheet Harbour Passage. Police mistakenly said Wednesday that a location in Port Dufferin was being searched, but corrected that information Thursday.

Hubley and MacDonald, who police initially said was 30 years old, were arrested Wednesday and questioned by investigators in Halifax.

Police said the pair know Johnson but did not know the victim. Johnson and Miller knew each other, but police have not disclosed the nature of their relationship.
