Meteorologist Tina Simpkin delivers the first weather of the day to viewers of both CTV Morning Live and Canada AM. While she has been with CTV Atlantic for several years, she became a full time member of the meteorological team in February of 2010.

Tina is back home after spending years honing her craft south of the border. Originally from Halifax, Tina graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in physics and math before moving on to get her Diploma of Meteorology.

She has worked for NBC, CBS, and Fox networks in the United States, rising to the ranks of Senior Meteorologist and Severe Weather Specialist. She has worked in a number of U.S. cities - which has given her the chance to develop expertise in a variety of extreme weather phenomena – including severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes. In fact, Tina has hours of video captured while chasing storms in either a news vehicle or a helicopter.

Tina has also taught Broadcast Meteorology at Ball State University in Muncie , Indiana and at south west Missouri State University in Springfield, MO.

Tina is a full member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the Television Seal of Approval. Only those who meet rigorous standards of education and experience are granted the seal.

When not studying weather, Tina enjoys being out in it – golfing and boating in the summer and downhill skiing in the winter. She also runs around the house after two tiny tornadoes of her own – her children!
