Fredericton police say two people are facing several charges after an early morning high-speed chase.

Acting Sgt. Sean Clark says it began around 1 a.m. Sunday when officers spotted a vehicle that was reported stolen.

Clark says officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to pull over.

He says officers began to pursue the vehicle but called off the chase about four minutes later for safety reasons.

Clark says officers spotted the vehicle in the north side about two hours later and tracked it to a residence, where the driver and passenger fled on foot.

He says officers set up a perimeter, and with the help of the K9 unit, arrested the pair about 45 minutes later.

A young adult male and youth male are facing several charges, including dangerous driving, criminal flight, breach of probation and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
