A 19 and 20-year-old man suffered serious injuries during a crash in Antigonish County Friday night.

Police say the pickup truck they were in left the road and struck a tree.

The crash happened on Monastery Road around 11:25 p.m.

The men from East Tracadie, N.S., and Merland, N.S., were transported to St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish, then airlifted to Halifax hospital via LifeFlight.

The section of road remained closed for several hours.

Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
