Police say three suspects are facing charges after a man and woman were allegedly held captive at a Dartmouth apartment.

The 20-year-old woman told police she and a 25-year-old man were held against their will at the apartment on Roleika Drive by two men and a woman.

She said she managed to escape and called police from a coffee shop on Main Street just after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Police went to the apartment but there was no one there. Their investigation led them to Mountain Road in Halifax, where they arrested two men and a woman without incident.

The alleged male victim was also found at that location, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

A chain and knife believed to have been used to assault the man were found inside the apartment on Roleika Drive.

Police say 35-year-old Ryan Harvey Lyman of Gaetz Brook and 36-year-old Nicholas Duncan McCabe of Halifax are each facing two counts of forcible confinement, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and one count of uttering threats.

Lyman also faces two counts of breaching a previously imposed recognizance.

Maryssa Danielle Poirier, 22, of Dartmouth is facing charges for being a party to the offences.

Police say the suspects were held in custody overnight and are due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Friday.
