A Nova Scotia couple recently tied the knot under a thunderstorm warning, and ended up with a photo memory they’ll cherish forever.

The couple, Mustapha Maynard and Morgan Kaulback, got married last weekend at a farm just outside of Halifax, surrounded by friends, family, and sunshine. It was picture perfect, until it was time for photos.

“We started the pictures, and about five minutes later, it down poured and then the thunder started,” says Kaulback.

The couple was already fretting the weather forecast which was calling for rain and thundershowers. They never imagined they’d end up with such a rare and stunning keepsake from their special day – a photo framed by both a rainbow and lightning – while the couple embraced in a celebratory kiss.

They’d hired Mark Sawatzy to take video of the wedding. During the reception, a guest announced there was a double rainbow outside.

“Of course we have to get the bride and groom in the rainbow shot, right?” says Sawatzy. “I noticed behind there was thundering noises, and I thought ‘If we wait long enough, I am going to get some lightning strikes.’”

“It was just a very magical moment,” says Maynard. “During that shot, they just kept asking us to kiss again, and then it just happened. Mark just lost it.”

The couple too, were completely shocked they ended up with this memory.

“It really didn’t hit me until I did see the photo, how magical that really was,” says Maynard. “Now everyone is telling us that this is a once in a lifetime shot.”

For a once in a lifetime love, that’s future is as bright as their electrifying feelings.
