A 58-year-old Halifax woman charged in connection with an early morning stabbing in the city’s north end is facing additional charges after a second incident was reported to police.

Police responded to a report of an injured man in an apartment in the 2400 block of Gottingen Street just before 4 a.m. Wednesday.

They say a 68-year-old man suffered a minor stab wound and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police say the female suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, but they located her as she was leaving the building.

Investigators say she was carrying a knife and officers had to use a Taser as they attempted to arrest her.

Roxanne Barton has been charged with aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and breach of a court order in connection with the stabbing.

As part of their investigation into the stabbing, police say a 54-year-old man reported that he too had been assaulted by the suspect in a similar matter, although he was not injured.

Barton is facing additional charges ofassault with a weapon and a second count each of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and breaching a court order in connection with that incident.

Police say Barton remains in custody and is due to appear in Halifax provincial court Thursday.
