Police in Halifax are investigating an alleged domestic assault that sent a woman and child to hospital.
Police responded to an apartment building on Flamingo Drive just before 12:30 p.m.
They say a male suspect fled the home before investigators arrived on the scene.
Police conducted a thorough search of the area but they were unable to locate the 27-year-old suspect.
They did, however, recover a handgun outside the building but they say it was not used during the assault.
A woman and child were taken to the IWK Health Centre for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and charges are expected.
