A woman is dead after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 105 near Baddeck, N.S.

The RCMP say it appears the woman was stopped in traffic and was waiting to make a left-hand turn when she was struck from behind by a pickup truck around 2 p.m. Monday.

Police say the impact of the collision forced her vehicle into the eastbound lane, causing it to collide with an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The 45-year-old Middle River woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck was assessed at the scene by paramedics and released. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Police say Highway 105 was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours. It has since reopened to traffic.

The incident remains under investigation. There is no word on charges at this time.
