Police believe alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in a single-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man in Balmoral, N.B.

The RCMP responded to the collision on rue Drapeau shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police believe the driver lost control of his vehicle, which then left the road and overturned in a ditch.

The Dalhousie, N.B. man died at the scene. His passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation but police believe alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors.
