Antigonish County RCMP are investigating after four police cruisers each had a tire slashed overnight.

Police said the marked vehicles were in the detachment parking lot at the time. Officers noticed the damage around 12:40 a.m.

Sgt. Brian Rehill said the incident is concerning as it could have affected public safety.

“Police vehicles are needed to respond to emergencies and save lives and such criminal acts impact public safety,” said Rehill in a statement. “People should be concerned about this.”

Police said the tires have been replaced and the vehicles are back in operation.
