HALIFAX - Another company has stepped up with a financial offer in hopes of saving the Canada Games skating oval in Halifax.

Molson Coors Canada says it has at least $225 thousand in sponsorship money for the oval. The brewery says it hopes to donate another $175 thousand over the next three years.

The temporary oval was supposed to be torn down at the end of the recent Games, but there's been an outpouring of public support to make the oval a permanent facility.

Brian Harriman, a vice-president for the brewery, says another partner could come on board. He won't disclose the potential partner, but he says it's not Goodlife Fitness Clubs. Goodlife offered $200 thousand in January for naming rights to the oval.

Harriman says the goal is to save the oval and the brewery wants to be as flexible as possible with other corporate partners to make it work.
