A swarm of boats is sailing toward Halifax after leaving a U.S. port for this year's Marblehead race.

Officials say 62 entries crossed the start line in Massachusetts yesterday, heading out to the Gulf of Maine.

They will race up the Atlantic coast to Halifax, with the first boats expected to cross the finish line tonight or tomorrow morning.

The historic race started in 1905.
