HALIFAX -- Baddeck RCMP have arrested a 49-year-old man with firearm offences and resisting arrest after he allegedly pointed a firearm at police and another man at a residence in Wagmatcook on Thursday night.

RCMP say at approximately 7:27 p.m. on Oct. 22, officers responded to a call of a man pointing a firearm at another man.

When police arrived, they found the man pointing the firearm at them through the doorway. Police were able to de-escalate the situation and convince the man to exit without the firearm. 

The suspect then attempted to turn towards the firearm and was arrested inside the residence. A loaded firearm was seized by police. There were no injuries.

A Wagmatcook man was released on conditions and is facing the following charges:

  • Pointing a Firearm X 2
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Resists or Obstructs Peace Officer

The investigation is ongoing. The man, whose name has not been released, is scheduled to appear at Wagmatcook Provincial Court on Dec. 2.
