NEW WATERFORD, N.S. -- Police in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality have arrested two men followed an alleged assault where a man was found covered in blood in a New Waterford residence.

Officers say a 23-year-old man from New Waterford and an 18-year-old man, also from New Waterford, are in custody.

Police say they had to surround the residence where the 23-year-old was located and then obtain a warrant to enter the residence and make the arrest today.

Police originally responded to reports of a male covered in blood on Wilson Avenue at 5 p.m.

Police allege the man was assaulted by two people, both known to the victim.

The victim was transported to Cape Breton Regional Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
