SYDNEY, N.S. A school board in Cape Breton says a male student is dead after being hit by a school bus.
Police say they were called to Sydney Academy in Sydney, N.S. around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.
The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board says two students were playing around outside the high school when one student fell underneath a moving bus.
Spokesman Charles Sheppard says the student was about 17 years old, but his name has not been released.
Sheppard says about 700 students who attend the school were dismissed following the incident.
Classes are cancelled for Thursday but the school will be open and crisis teams will be available.
Police say forensic identification and traffic safety units were investigating.
