Carol Lunney has been volunteering with Christmas Daddies for 25 years and has worn many hats during her time with the telethon.

“She has done everything from cameras to decorating to answering phones, and more recently, she is our finance gal,” says co-worker Tricia Smith.

“If it wasn’t for her, she takes care of all of our expenses, bills, all that kind of stuff.”

Alan MacLellan has worked with Lunney since she started with the Maritime institution.

He says she has got the region covered.

“You know, there isn’t anything she doesn’t know about the New Brunswick, P.E.I. portion of the Christmas Daddies Telethon,’ says MacLellan.

“So, I guess you could say she is the go-to person for all of us here at CTV Moncton when it comes to Christmas Daddies.”

Lunney says her motivation over the years is drawn from personal experience.

“Well, because it was a good cause and having children of my own and knowing that they could have a great Christmas,” says Lunney.

“I wanted to be sure that other children who were less fortunate would be able to have a Christmas as well.”

If you know someone deserving of our Maritimer of the Week award, we want to hear about it.

It doesn't matter how old they are, the nature of the "good deed" they've done, or what part of the region they live in – we want your ideas!
