A New Brunswick cyclist has died following a hit and run in Moncton.

Police say the 58-year-old Dieppe man was biking on the Lewisville Road, near the intersection of Dowd Street, when he was struck by a vehicle just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

The man suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital where he died.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Dieppe man, left the scene of the crash but was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident.

He has since been released from police custody. A decision on charges has yet to be made.

Police say an RCMP collision reconstructionist and forensic identification specialist are assisting in the investigation to determine what caused the fatal crash.
