Police have charged eight men in connection with a stabbing at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility last month.

Halifax Regional Police received a report of a disturbance at the Burnside jail shortly after 4 p.m. on March 24.

Police say the incident involved a number of inmates and that two men were stabbed with improvised weapons. The men, aged 39 and 24, were treated for minor injuries.

Eight men are facing a number of charges in connection with the stabbing.

Troy Jeremiah Bowden, 22, Robert Edgar Paul, 21, Corey Stephen Joseph Paul, 29, and James George Falt, 28, each face charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and assault.

Dean Gordon Normand, 39, is facing two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and two counts of assault.

Chris David John Dixon, 35, is charged with assault.

Kaz Henry Cox, 35, is facing charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

Dylan Peter Roach is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The men are due in court at a later date.
