Employees at a Halifax shopping mall are being warned about a man who was spotted taking inappropriate video of women.

A memo has been sent to everyone who works at Park Lane Mall, located in downtown Halifax on Spring Garden Road. According to the memo a man was seen with a large smartphone, closely following women through the mall.

While mall management and security declined to comment on the matter, mall employees tell CTV News they appreciate the warning.

“We come in early in the morning, we leave late at night, so it’s important for us to know that there is somebody walking around doing this,” says mall employee Diana Burns.

Burns says she is also concerned about the safety of her customers.

“We have to look out for the wellbeing of our customers,” says Burns. “Our business is our customer. If we don’t get the customer, if the customer is not happy, and they’re not going to come because they know that there’s somebody around the mall who shouldn’t be, then it’s going to affect my business.”

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25 to 30. Witnesses say he has a slim build and short black receding hair.

Police have also been informed of the incident.
