PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. -- Nova Scotia RCMP have laid charges after a break-in and assault at a home in Port Hawkesbury.

Police say a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital in Halifax with facial injuries after four people broke into a home last Saturday and assaulted him.

The Mounties say four suspects were arrested over the weekend.

Nineteen-year-old Mitchell O'Toole of Port Hawkesbury as well as 19-year-old Ashley Hunter, 23-year-old Matthew Keizer and 29-year-old James O'Toole, all from the Halifax area, face charges of assault with a weapon.

They are also charged with assault causing bodily harm as well as break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police say they've determined the suspects and the victim were known to each other, and the incident was not random.
