Four people were taken to hospital with injuries after a vehicle left the road and smashed into a boulder in the Peggys Cove preservation area.

Tantallon RCMP responded to the collision on Prospect Road shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday.

One person was airlifted to hospital and remains in critical, but stable condition. Another person is in hospital in stable, non-critical condition. Two others were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
