Canadian light-middleweight boxing champion Brandon Brewer won in the third round of the eight-round main event in Fredericton Saturday night.

Brewer, who was born and raised in Nackawic, N.B., scored a technical knockout over Argentinian boxer Diego Marocchi.

Over 3,500 fans took in the event at the Aitken Centre, making it the largest pro boxing event in the province in decades.

“It’s all good energy,” said Brewer after the fight. “I don’t get nervous, I just use that energy. It wakes me up, it keeps my eyes open, keeps my reflexes sharp and I feel good.”

Additional tickets were added at the last minute for the events.

Brewer is working on organizing another world-class boxing event in the city later in the year, and perhaps multiple events in 2017.
