Despite walking in a marked crosswalk with a crossing guard, a six-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle on Monday afternoon, Halifax police say.

Halifax Regional Police say the girl received only minor injuries and was taken to the IWK Health Centre for observation.

Police say officers responded to the incident shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

A 49-year-old man was ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police say.
