A small group of grieving mothers is channeling that energy into something creative, and lasting, in memory of their lost children.

The women have been working to create a memorial in Sullivan’s Pond, a Dartmouth park.

They've already raised tens of thousands of dollars for the project, but it’s still not enough for what they wish to accomplish.

“We've managed amongst ourselves, and it's a very small group, to raise over 30 thousand dollars, but to do the project we need a lot more than that. At least another 30 thousand,” says Donna Schewfelt from the Children's Memorial Dragonfly Park Society.

Lisa Tanner and her husband lost their daughter to a kayaking accident on the water in Germany eight years ago.

There will be a dragonfly statue to honour her memory.

Those involved ultimately hope to create a thing of beauty out of their sorrow.
