Police in Halifax say they are continuing to investigate the murder of Timothy John Kelly, which happened 15 years ago Thursday.

Officers responded to a report of an injured man lying on the sidewalk in front of a home on Abbott Drive in Halifax around 10 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2009.

When they arrived, police found Kelly suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Kelly was 44 at the time.

Kelly had been in contact with family and friends earlier that evening, according to police.

“Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Timothy’s murder. They are asking anyone with information, who has not already spoken with police, to come forward with what they know,” said Halifax Regional Police in a news release.

“What may seem like an insignificant detail could be the key to progressing the investigation into Timothy’s murder.”

Kelly’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which rewards up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain cases.
