Friday marks 30 years since the murder of a Halifax man and police say they continue to investigate his case.

Police received a report on Dec. 12, 1994, that a patient had been admitted to Victoria General Hospital five days earlier with a serious head injury.

Shane Darrell Siddle died from his injuries the next day.

Investigators believe he was assaulted near his home on Belle Aire Terrace the night of Dec. 7 and it was not reported to police.

Police believe there are people who have information that could help solve Siddle’s murder.

“We hope that the passage of time will encourage someone to do the right thing and come forward with what they know about Shane’s murder,” said Halifax Regional Police Const. Martin Cromwell in a Friday news release.

“It is never too late to do the right thing and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation.”

Siddle’s case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

It offers a cash reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain major unsolved cases.

People who come forward with information must provide their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court. All calls are recorded.

People can call the rewards program at 1-888-710-9090.
