Halifax Regional Police are investigating a fatal crash in the Bayers Lake Industrial Park.

Police say a Ford Mustang slammed into a power pole at 100 Horseshoe Lake Drive at approximately 7:13 a.m. on Monday.

They say the impact was so severe that the southbound vehicle spun 180 degrees around the pole.

The lone occupant of the vehicle, 27-year-old Jeffrey Donald Hanson of East Uniacke, N.S. was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We’re going to be looking to see if speed was a factor,” says Staff Sgt. Bill Morris. “We’re in an industrial park, early morning. We should have lots of witnesses, so we’ll be looking for anybody that did see the collision.”

Horseshoe Lake Drive, between Access Nova Scotia and Nothin Fancy Furniture, was shut down for several hours while police investigated the crash scene.

A collision reconstructionist will investigate whether speed or driver inattention were factors in the crash.
