Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery on New Year’s Day.

Police responded to a robbery at the Petro Canada gas station on Quinpool Road before 5 p.m. on Jan. 1.

They say a man entered the business and threatened an employee with a knife as he demanded cash and cigarettes.

He fled the scene on foot. The employee was not injured.

Police say an arrest warrant was issued Monday for 23-year-old Shane Thomas Robinson in connection with the alleged robbery.

Robinson is facing charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and disguise with intent.

He is described as a white man with short, red hair and blue eyes. He is six-feet tall and weighs 181 pounds. He has a tattoo of a red star on the right side of his neck.

Police say Robinson is considered armed and dangerous and they believe he is still in the Halifax area. They say he shouldn’t be approached if spotted.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
