Halifax police are searching for two suspects after a 46-year-old man was attacked with a baseball bat early Tuesday.

Police say the victim was walking in the areas of Mont and Hillary Streets in Spryfield just before 6:30 a.m. when two suspects pulled up in front of him in a vehicle.

One of the suspects assaulted the man with a metal baseball bat while the second suspect waited in the car.

Police say they fled the scene in a dark blue, newer model Mitsubishi and were last spotted heading towards Herring Cove Road.

The victim was crawling towards a basement apartment when police received the 911 call. They say he suffered “significant” but non life-threatening injuries to both of his legs in the attack.

Police are searching for the suspects’ car.

One of the suspects is described as a white man with a skinny build, possibly bald or with very short hair.

Police say they are waiting to interview the victim but they don’t believe the attack was a random act.
