Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a five-year-old murder investigation.

Police responded to a shooting at a residence on Jarvis Lane in Halifax shortly after 8 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2010.

They say 21-year-old Donald Jermaine Stevenson had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe a man wearing a skull mask and dark clothing entered the residence and shot Stevenson while two family members were present.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading northbound on Duffus Street onto Dartmouth Avenue, where he got into the passenger seat of a silver SUV.

Police say the vehicle left northbound on Dartmouth Avenue and turned onto Rector Street.

Investigators don’t believe the shooting was a random act and they are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
