Halifax police are asking for the public’s help in locating the rightful owner of a stone angel statue found in Bedford Monday night.

Police say a resident reported finding the statue outside a building on Nelson Landing Boulevard before 8:30 p.m.

Investigators believe the statue was left outside the building sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. but they aren’t sure where it came from or who put it there.

The statue is roughly a metre tall and weighs more than 200 pounds.

Police believe it may have been taken from outside a place of worship or a cemetery because there is a metal rod extending from its base.

They also believe at least two people would have taken the statue, given its size, and that a vehicle was likely used to transport it.

Police are asking the statue’s owner or anyone with information regarding the case to contact them at 490-5016.
