Jury selection will begin today for the trial of a 52-year-old man accused of second-degree murder in the death of his 34-year-old girlfriend.

Paul Trevor Calnen is also charged with interfering with human remains.

Reita Louise Jordan was reported missing from her Tantallon, N.S. home in March 2013.

Police arrested Calnen in June of that year. Investigators allege he killed Jordan and then burned her body.

A murder charge against Calnen was initially withdrawn following a preliminary inquiry, but the charge was later reinstated.

Jordan’s body has yet to be found.
