A mistake on a promotional T-shirt is gaining a lot of attention on Prince Edward Island which, according to the T-shirt, is located in Nova Scotia.

Country star Kenny Chesney is one of the headline acts at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival this summer and the back of his T-shirts list all of the places he’s touring.

However, whoever designed the shirts may need a geography lesson, having mistakenly listed Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia as one Chesney’s tour locations.

Jeff Squires, president of the Cavendish Music Festival, says the typo has created even more buzz around the event.

“I’d probably be a little upset if Prince Edward Island wasn’t on the T-shirt, but it is there and it’s fine. The reality is Cavendish is in Prince Edward Island,” says Squires.

Storeowner Mike Wheeler knows all about the T-shirt business and Prince Edward Island. His garments are dyed from the province’s red soil.

“I think I read somewhere where he sold a million tickets. That is a lot of T-shirts. I think we might be Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia for a few months anyways,” says Wheeler.

Islanders have mixed feelings about the T-shirt typo.

“It’s probably just someone’s mistake and hopefully they’ll correct it, or at least apologize for it, but other than that, I have no problem,” says resident Bill Murphy.

“I’m a bit offended,” says resident Joe Pierce. “It has its pros and cons. The con is that somebody somewhere in the United States made an error.”

Chesney will take the stage in Cavendish on July 6.
