One of two Eastern Passage brothers charged in the killing of a Dartmouth teenager has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 15 years.

Kyle Brian Gowen was originally charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Dillon Jewett. The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Supreme Court in Kentville Tuesday morning.

Jewett's body was found in a quarry in East Uniacke, north of Halifax, in October 2010. A group of people had been riding bikes and all-terrain vehicles in the area when they discovered Jewett's body and called 911.

Steven Shaun Gowen and Amanda Allison Greene, also of Eastern Passage, are accused of first-degree murder in Jewett's death. Greene is Jewett's former girlfriend.

Steven Gowen has a resolution conference booked for Thursday.
