A 49-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly attacked a woman in Nova Scotia’s Antigonish County.

Police responded to an assault call at a home in North Grant before midnight Tuesday.

They say a preliminary investigation revealed that a 55-year-old woman was attacked by a male resident of the home.

Police say she managed to escape from the home during the alleged attack. She sustained minor injuries.

Police arrested the suspect at his home without incident about an hour later.

Sterling Robert Partridge, 49, is facing charges of attempted murder, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, sexual assault and two counts of unsafe storage of a firearm.

Partridge remains in custody.
