SOURIS, P.E.I. -- A 66-year-old man has died after the truck he was driving veered off a highway in eastern Prince Edward Island and hit a ditch.

The RCMP in Souris say they responded to the accident on Highway 2 just east of Highway 4 at around 7:25 a.m. today.

Police say the commercial truck was westbound when it left the road and rolled onto its roof in the ditch.

The driver -- from Red Point, P.E.I. -- died at the scene.

His name has not been released as police try to contact his relatives.

Officers are still investigating the cause of the accident, though they say alcohol and speed aren't considered factors.
