A man is dead following a collision between a pickup truck and a transport truck on New Brunswick’s Highway 7.

Police say the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. between Geary and Oromocto when a northbound pickup truck crossed the centre line and slammed into a southbound tractor-trailer.

The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene, while the driver of the transport truck suffered minor injuries.

The RCMP has shut down down Highway 7 while accident reconstructionists examine the scene.

Traffic is being rerouted through Highway 101 and motorists are being advised to expect delays.

Police say the highway could remain closed for another few hours.

The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of his family.
