HALIFAX -- A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Halifax on Saturday.

Police say the accident happened just before 9 p.m. on Barrington Street near Cornwallis Street in the southbound lane.

They say a 28-year-old man was crossing the street and was not in a crosswalk when he was narrowly missed by one vehicle and hit by a second vehicle.

Police say he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators say no charges are expected in the case.
