An 18-year-old man wanted in what police describe as an 'extremely violent' murder in Moncton is in custody.
RCMP Const. Jullie Rogers-Marsh says Tyler Noel was arrested in a vehicle in Petitcodiac just before 1 p.m. Saturday.
Rogers-Marsh says the arrest came after officers responded to a report of a break in at a cottage in Elgin an hour earlier.
Jeanette Huckins, who lives not far from where the arrest was made, says she saw a speeding vehicle pass her home around 1 p.m., followed by the sirens and flashing lights of an RCMP cruiser.
“(The officer) had his gun out,” said Huckins. “Then we heard him say, “keep your head down,” and then he stayed like that in his stance and gun held out until another cruiser showed up, and it seemed like a matter of minutes.”
Two other men inside the vehicle were also arrested and remain in custody.
Noel is scheduled to appear in Moncton provincial court Wednesday afternoon to face charges of first-degree murder and arson.
Police are still on the hunt for 20-year-old Marissa Shephard, who also faces first-degree murder and arson charges in the death of 18-year-old Baylee Wylie.
Wylie's body was discovered by firefighters following a house fire on Sumac Street in Moncton on Dec. 17.
Days after the fire, charges of first-degree murder and arson were laid against 18-year-old Devin Morningstar.
Shephard is described as a 5’5”, 100 pound white woman with brown eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo with the name Stephen on her neck and a tattoo of a crown on her chest.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shephard is asked to contact Codiac Regional RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
